In the case of inclement weather or strong winds (20mph) the release will be cancelled and all fees/deposits will be returned.
Pending the release time and location, a release cannot take place less then 1-3 hours before the sun sets, it's important the birds fly during daylight hours when returning to their loft.

No,doves can be released in a variety of ways. The options of release will be discussed with you when planning your release with FOLA staff prior to the event,
The doves can be released outside, following the ceremony or as the couple leaves the reception. This dove release can take the place of throwing rice or other common rituals. .
Although it is the doves (homing pigeons) natural instinct to return to their home, they need to know where home is. Training the doves in different directions and taking them out from short to longer distances improves there navigational skills. They love their loft. They know their love is a place of love and safety.
If a child can control a dove safely and he/she is deemed safe by a FOLA staff prior to the event a child can hold a dove for release. The grand children of the owners of FOLA hold these birds all the time. They are clean, safe and docile. when held properly.
Absolutely! Our birds can be held once trained by FOLA staff. Training is quick and easy. Those holding a dove will be trained by staff before the planned event.
No, Our doves (homing pigeons) have been trained to return from outdoors. They need the outdoors to help orient themselves to return to their loft. .
Under excellent conditions they fly between 50 - 60 mph, and usually fly non-stop until they get home.
The turtledoves (also referred to sometimes as ringnecks or mourning doves) are poor fliers and should never be released into the wild! They will fall prey to dogs, cats, and hawks. More embarrassing though is that they won't fly more then a few feet from where you released them. They have almost NO homing instinct and it is considered cruel to release these types of doves. Our birds are vaccinated, wormed and fed healthy diets. They are expensive and require a lot of time and training by experienced handlers. You may spend a few extra dollars hiring us, but you get peace of mind knowing you are providing guests with the unforgettable memory of a professional bird release.
Just like human athletes, our doves have a special diet before your big event so they can perform at top levels without 'messing up.' They also fly with their feet tucked up underneath so they won't soil themselves. While we can never 100% guarantee that a mess may not happen, 'accidents' are extremely rare.
